This is the fourteenth installment from “Be Ready for the Wonderful: Words of Well-Being to Ease Your Way Through Change.”
Be as Relaxed as Possible
Change has an unerring capacity to throw you for a loop, so be gentle with yourself and stay as relaxed as you possibly can.
It’s neither necessary nor desirable to focus every bit of every day battling or promoting the change brewing in your world. The more tense you are, the more resistance you create. Taking time to breathe deeply — to de-stress and tune out the tumult — will ease your way.
Allow events to unfold naturally and be sure to continue activities that bring you pleasure. No matter how catastrophic it all seems, you can still give yourself permission to laugh and have fun. Otherwise, you face the consequences of personal collapse, which will likely set you back further than the change that now overwhelms you.
You wouldn’t jerk a fragile butterfly from its chrysalis or demand that a tender blossom emerge before its time — so why not relax and give yourself the same courtesy? Healthy practices that smooth your edges and calm your mind are potent relaxants, leaving you unworried and serene, come what may.
