Thirsting for music that showers you with light, love, and radiance? Here are three renditions by the incomparable India Arie that I posted back in the day. First, Arie in a 2006 live performance of James Taylor’s “The Secret of Life” at an event honoring Taylor. These lyrics have always slayed me in the best way — and her cover is delicious.
Next, her YT video, “I Am Light,” which swept me away with its profound beauty and simplicity.
If that wasn’t enough, I also love this studio recording of “Beautiful Flower”, for which Arie was nominated in 2008 for the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) Image Award for Outstanding Song, and also for a Grammy for Best R&B Song. PS: You don’t need to be a “girl” to appreciate the sentiment of “Beautiful Flower”; just substitute your word of choice. See/hear it on youtube here.
Enjoy one, two, or all three of these videos, with thanks to those who created and uploaded them. Pure, unadulterated inspiration and depth of soul!
BTW, artwork associated with this blog post is”Meditation” by Odilon Redon.
Thank you for bringing my attention to this.
