This is the eleventh installment of “Be Ready for the Wonderful: Words of Well-Being to Ease Your Way Through Change.”
Be A Beginner
Once things go topsy-turvy, you may feel disoriented and bewildered. You may be thrust into alien environments and circumstances, as though you are relying on a different operating system than everyone around you.
There’s no need to perceive this as a problem. You’re not incapable or unaccomplished; you’re simply a beginner acquiring new skills and competency.
You can explore with the zeal of a beginner and learn with the eager inquisitiveness of one who has started a new adventure. You are uniquely qualified to ask questions, demonstrate a pure and unfettered curiosity, and glean something new and interesting in every moment.
When faced with something unfamiliar, remind yourself (and others) that you’re a beginner. If anyone unfairly judges you, gently but firmly tell them, “Well, you know, this is all new to me.” Everyone on the planet started out as a beginner, just like you. Rather than resisting, approach change with the wide-eyed wonderment of a child. Given time and beginner’s luck, your outward circumstances will rise to new heights along with your increasingly buoyant spirit.
