be willing to redefine what is perfect 20/26 (audio 1:45)

This is the twentieth installment of “Be Ready for the Wonderful: Words of Well-Being to Ease Your Way through Change.”

Be Willing to Redefine What Is Perfect

There are no guarantees that change will lead you down the road to a glossy, picture-perfect version of success or great achievement. More often than not, the best and highest value that change offers is in the way you choose to experience it.

Perfection is in the eye of the beholder, and your ultimate quest is to find some measure of perfection in every situation you face. If you cannot imagine looking beyond hardship and struggle and trusting that all is in perfect order, perhaps it’s time to revisit your definition of what “perfect” means to you.

Even if you triumphantly seize change as an opportunity to stretch your wings or widen your horizons, your new ventures may not initially feel like a perfect fit. Though you may not have arrived in the paradise you had hoped for, you can still benefit from immeasurable lessons. Rather than striving to create a state of perfection as defined by the outside world, why not acknowledge that it already exists according to your own chosen terms?
